Dear Fellow Saintsmen,
I would like to bring to your attention a fund raising opportunity to help sons and grandsons of fellow Saints alumni attend Saints. As you may know, Saints tuition is approaching $20,000 per year. I have heard scores of fellow alumni state that if tuition in their days of attending was relatively anything like what it is today, they would not have been able to attend and become Saintsmen. I have also heard comments from the same fellow alumni, about how impressed they are with the improvements taking place at Saints.
Last year, to help address this issue, the Class of 1968, aided by a matching challenge by one of our classmates, raised $6,350 for the Saints Alumni Endowment Scholarship Fund. This was done as part of the fund raising efforts of the annual Saints Alumni Golf Classic. We intend to raise funds again this year for the same Fund and challenge other classes to do so as well.
The Alumni Endowment Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for sons and grandsons of Saints Alumni in need, to help enable them to attend Saints.
Contributions can also be made by checks payable to the St. Augustine H.S. Alumni Association. In the memo line, please add “Class of 19xx or 20xx Challenge.” As this effort is part of the annual Saints Golf Classic, please get the contributions to the Alumni Association by the date of the tournament, April 21st. They can be mailed to the Association as the school address, 3266 Nutmeg St., San Diego, CA 92104.
We will keep track of each Class’ donations and publish the results on the Saints Alumni website after the golf tournament. Let’s all pitch in. After all, Saints is what has brought us all together.
If you have any question or need help organizing your Class Challenge, please let me know. If required please request a donation form with our Tax Id.
