Ernie Branch, Class of ’83, departed the physical world on May 24, 2016 following a 14 month battle with various cancers. A Catholic memorial Mass was held on May 28th. More than 35 Saintsmen attended the service, including a well-regarded former vice-principal. Some of the attendees were his friends since grade school. Ernie was well loved and remembered fondly, many recalling his exploits in sports, in the classroom, and companionship. In 1983 his fellow Saintsmen voted him Man of the Year. Ernie was devoted to his family and friends and spent his final days as he wished—at home in their company, providing comfort to others. Ernie was 50 years old. He donated his body to science.
