17th Annual Alumni Fishing Trip – Recap & Photos

August 9th 2026. Malihini out of H&M Landing with 27 Alumni, Family & Friends. Fishing in San Diego had been “hot” with the El Nino weather but….

The two days preceding our trip the bite shut off in the range where can go, and the water temp dropped. We had one option to catch fish and it was to go to the Coronado Islands – which is not a bad option at all, but was not what we had expected to do.

The boat landed so many whitefish, sheephead, lingcod, perch, calico bass rockfish and yes we did get 1 Yellowtail. Young Freddie Castro, son of Fred ’91 was the lucky one to get the Yellow and to make it even sweeter it was his first Yellowtail – congrats Freddie.

Everyone on the boat caught numerous fish, had many laughs and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day on the boat complete with drinks and the oh so good boat burgers!

Special thanks to Joey and Squidco for their support!
