Alumni Board President’s Message – 2015

My Alumni Brothers,

In 1922 our Augustinian Fathers started a place where boys could receive a quality Christian education, entering as boys and graduating as young men. Unbeknownst to the Fathers, a tradition is born and an experience unparalleled to any other begins—the Saints Experience.

The Saints Experience isn’t just about attending St. Augustine High School for four years. It doesn’t end when you, your son, grandson, nephew or friend graduates. It continues to live and thrive in all of us through our faith, community and camaraderie, which is formed among our Saints Brothers.

As the world around us changes socially, economically and technologically, St. Augustine High School has also continued to grow, embracing change and preparing young men for the future. In 2007, Saints added nearly 40,000 square feet of classroom buildings, science labs, its library and even renovated Vasey Hall.

These improvements have given our students the state of the art facilities needed in today’s competitive world. In the very near future Saints will be breaking ground on the next phase of improvements which is the 51,000 square foot Student Activities Center. This will house a gymnasium, wrestling room, sacristy, event venue, training rooms, President’s offices, food service facility, and student store.

Technology is also a priority at Saints. Saints has initiated several programs in this area. While Canvas assists students in organizing their assignments, Naviance helps them with the college application process. Both welcome parent involvement in their son’s education. In addition, all school newspapers, newsletters and Saints Alive Alumni News are easily accessed online.

Changes implemented by the Board of Directors and various committees like the Alumni Association are made possible through generous donors, fundraisers and events, which look to make Saints a hub of success for our young men and ensure the Saints Experience continues to thrive. Change is constant, but one thing has, and always will remain the same—Unitas, Veritas, Caritas.

The Saints Alumni Association is always looking for ways the school’s alumni can stay connected and involved with their alma mater. Annually, we host the Saints Alumni Golf Tournament, the Alumni Bocce Ball Tournament, the Turkey Trot and Parochial School football, basketball and soccer tournaments. Hosting and participating in these events not only aids our efforts in raising money for Saints, but also maintains the camaraderie the school’s brothers share and enhances the experience for current & future generations.

On behalf of the Saints Alumni Association, I would like to thank all of those who have supported our Alumni Association’s fundraising events throughout the years. With the help and support of our Saints graduates, their families and friends, we have contributed to the school in various ways, like the Saints Capital campaign and building fund, financial aid programs and other involvement programs. Without your help and support, we would not be able to accomplish this mission at our alma mater.

We invite you to be a part of the alumni association and continue your Saints Experience. Please e-mail me if you have any questions or you would like to be part of our mission. My E-Mail address is dtoscano@alumnisahs.org.

Thank You,
