2013 Alumni Sponsored Senior Writing Contest Winner

Thirteenth Annual Senior Writing Contest

At the Senior Awards Assembly, on May 24th, Bob Kevane ‘62 announced the winners of the Senior Writing Contest, “The Saints Experience And What It Means To Me.” Three essays were chosen from the one hundred and three seniors who participated in the thirteenth annual alumni sponsored affair of honor.

Saints seniors were requested to select one of two prompts. Using their experience and education they were asked to interpret and explain a quote from St. Augustine, “God has promised forgiveness to your repentance but He has not promised tomorrow to your procrastination.” The second choice was to share the significance and meaning of their single most memorable St. Augustine experience.

A panel of ten alumni judges selected the work of Charles X. Madruga as the best for 2013. As the first place winner he received a check for $500.00. For only the second time in the history of the contest there was a tie in the balloting. Second place checks of $250.00 were awarded to Patrick Dixon and Ryan Merrill.
